Synopsis

It is August, and Valérie Pelet takes us to well-known Italian vacation destinations close to the Austrian border. These places, which she explores with 16 mm shots and an off-voice, become more and more diverse. Shots of half-empty plates with food scraps are juxtaposed with stories of migrants and closed borders. The Fall of the Iron Curtain in August 1989, pictures of vacationers on crowded beaches, and butterflies flying towards the moon. All these impressions concentrate like the hot air in August, breaking barriers and creating new perspectives.
