Synopsis

The 12-year-old Mahi lives with her younger sister and her parents in the countryside. Between housework and games on the sandy ground, she is confronted with new questions: How do women get pregnant? When asking her mother, Mahi’s curiosity is not met with an explanation but with shame, rebuke, and wrong answers. Misled and left alone, the girl tries to fulfill the role that was assigned to her. Yet when a young man from the city comes to visit and sexually abuses Mahi, her repressed feelings become an unbearable burden.
