Growing up in Mogadishu amid the turmoil of civil war, Samia finds an unlikely refuge in long-distance running. Defying the threats of militias opposed to women in sports, she dreams of representing Somalia on the world stage. At just seventeen, her dream takes flight as she competes in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Yet, her return home presents unforeseen challenges. Director Yasemin Şamdereli crafts a nuanced portrait of a young athlete who risks everything to chase her passion, revealing the resilience and determination born in the face of adversity.
